You are going to love our Artist of the Month: Mihalis Athanasopoulos ! Mikath (his artist name) is mainly a 3D CG designer from Greece. Because his career path involves many different aspects of visualization, such as architecture, industrial design, public art & video art, he loves to mix pixels with feelings creating contemporary collages.
We asked him a few questions, to know more about him and his creative universe…
Hello Mihalis! Can you introduce yourself to people who don’t know you?
Hello, I’m a graphic designer from Athens, Greece, i have studied 3d graphic design and have worked with industrial designers, architects and public artists, visualizing photorealistic 3d renders.
What inspires you the most?
Music has always inspired me the most.
Which techniques do you use to create your designs?
I pick a theme, sketch a draft on paper, mainly to set the basic layout, and then I digitally create each element whether it is a vector or a 3d object. I often use elements from my image library to enrich my design.
How could you describe your artist style?
When I’m creating a collage, it would be contemporary, mysterious, a bit dramatic and surreal. In patterns I like to play with vivid colors and mix shapes with forms often in a symmetrical way to create a colorful chaos.
How do you choose the subject of your painting ?
I would say the subject itself chooses me, as it gets stuck on my mind for days. The feelings I have for it usually define the color palette and the mood for my design.
What are your other interests in life ? Are you interested in other arts and other forms of culture ?
I literally love all types of design, industrial, interior, fashion and architecture. I’m always looking for eye catching design trends.
What artists have influenced you ?
Ancient Greek sculptors and Renaissance artists have always fascinated me.
What are your plans for future ?
I don’t have other plans, than to keep on evolving my art, and finding new and intriguing ways to express myself.
Do you have something to add?
I’m really excited that The Kase has boutiques in so many countries!!! It’s fantastic that my art can communicate with people in languages I don’t speak.
